UN Independent Expert on Albinism
Celebrating the resilience of people with albinism, this International Albinism Awareness Day event will highlight the remarkable global momentum that advocates with albinism have created in recent years to protect and advance their rights. These efforts have, for example, spurred the African Union to establish—for the first time—an ambassador-level office tasked with defending the rights of people with albinism in Africa.
The event will feature performances from musicians with albinism, remarks from Michele Bachelet, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, and short video clips from advocates for people with albinism from around the world.
