Organized by the European Network on Drugs and Infections Prevention in Prison (ENDIPP), the theme of this year's conference is "From the Principle of Equivalence to the Practice of Care: Bridging the Gap." The conference aims to:
promote the notion of prisons as part of the wider community and highlight the positive contributions each can make to the other;
exchange and review information and good practice in the field;
promote cooperation among different professions, disciplines, interests, and countries;
continue to exploit the opportunities for cooperation provided by EU enlargement;
consolidate learning from experience in related fields;
identify issues for further discussion, review, and research in the field;
promote pragmatic, realistic, effective, and cost-saving interventions with problematic drug users in the criminal justice system.
