The OSI Information Program in partnership with the International Renaissance Foundation, the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, and the Kyiv Mohyla Academy organized the first Open Access Scholarly Communication Workshop in the former Soviet Union. The workshop was designed to bring together scientists, librarians, university administrators, journal publishers, and information managers.
