Moving Walls is a travelling photographic exhibition series sponsored by the Open Society Institute. The series represents the transitional condition of open societies and the promotion and maintenance of democratic values. Nations often erect obstacles and barriers such as political oppression, economic instability, and racism. Yet, even as these walls are built, there are people committed to tearing them down. As the name of the exhibition series implies, MovingWalls is an artistic interpretation of this struggle.
The seventh Moving Walls exhibit revisits some themes that lie at the core of our mission. Seven photographers–Thomas Dworzak, Eric Gottesman, Brenda Ann Kenneally, Pedro Linger-Gasiglia, Jon Lowenstein, Jonathan Moller, and Ivan Sigal–document social struggles, from Ethiopia to New York City, and their work reflects OSI's commitment to human rights and justice around the world.
