Baltimore’s primary election season has been filled with debates, town halls, and forums (including two of our own). But this event offers a different way to get to know the candidates. Intimate. Funny. Surprising. Not political—personal. No spin. No buzz. No campaigning. Just true tales, told live.
For years, Stoop Storytelling has encouraged Baltimoreans to share their stories with their neighbors. For this one-of-a-kind election year event, the Open Society Institute–Baltimore and Stoop Storytelling are asking Baltimore’s mayoral primary candidates to do the same, sharing five-minute true, personal tales about their first jobs. All of the primary candidates have been invited, including Democrats, Republicans, and Greens; Sheila Dixon, Catherine Pugh, Elizabeth Embry, David Warnock, Carl Stokes, and DeRay Mckesson are among those who have agreed to share their stories.
