In this discussion, he offers an insightful and withering analysis of rural development in India, with particular attenion to “footloose” migration, rampant corporate corruption, and the growing curse of inequality. His acclaimed collection of columns, Everybody Loves a Good Drought is considered one of the most important books on poverty and rural society.
