One of India’s most influential journalists, P. Sainath has long covered rural poverty and the effects of globalization in India. In this discussion, he offers an insightful and withering analysis of rural development in India, with particular attenion to “footloose” migration, rampant corporate corruption, and the growing curse of inequality. The discussion was hosted by the Open Society Fellowship Program as part of its Ideas Initiative and was moderated by Julia Harrington Reddy of the Open Society Justice Initiative.
