Burma’s Rohingya: Beyond the Communal Violence

The Rohingya, a Muslim minority group in western Burma, have long faced systematic discrimination. The recent outbreak of severe violence between communities in the western Burmese state of Rakhine refocused attention on the Rohingya and threatened to destabilize the country’s transition away from military rule. The Open Society Foundations and Refugees International host a discussion on the history of this systemic discrimination, recent developments, and potential ways forward.

A slideshow of Greg Constantine’s photographs of the Rohingya will also be presented.
