At the annual gathering of the Undergraduate Exchange Program, scholars discussed issues involving the topic "Engaged Citizenship."
Activists in civil society joined the agenda to give an innovative look on social justice issues. Iain Keith, Global Campaigner, Avaaz; Jesus Gonzalez of the Youth Power Project, Make the Road NY and Maria Juliana Byck, Distribution Manager from Paper Tiger Television presented their ideas to the group before taking field trip to Global Kids, where a discussion and workshop honed their critical thinking skills from a human rights perspective.
The event concluded on a social note from the Big Onion Walking Tour, who gave the scholars a taste of the history of the City of Immigration before their departures.
