With Democratic and Republican primary elections approaching, Open Society Institute–Baltimore, Associated Black Charities, and Baltimore City Paper have organized a series of two mayoral forums aiming to reach new voters, increase voter turnout, and educate voters about Baltimore candidates’ priorities and positions. All of the mayoral candidates on the April 26 ballots have been invited to attend, and the forums will be webcast live so that voters throughout the city will be able to take part.

This first forum will be hosted by Dr. Heber M. Brown, III, pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. Moderators will be Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and Morgan State University professor E.R. Shipp and Marc Steiner, host of WEAA’s The Marc Steiner Show.

Open Society Institute–Baltimore has circulated a poll in collaboration with the Baltimore Elections 2016 Facebook group (open only to Baltimore City residents), asking voters to weigh in on the issues they would most like candidates to address. Results of that poll will be used as the basis of questions our moderators will ask each candidate.

Both forums are free and open to the public, and no tickets are required.
