Following the establishment of a World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Development Agenda last September by a number of developing countries, an Inter-sessional Intergovernmental Meeting (IIM) was held in Geneva on April 11 13, 2005. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss a number of concrete proposals that have been put forward by WIPO member states.

Major developing-country proponents of a comprehensive Development Agenda further elaborated their positions and commented on alternative proposals put forward by other countries, which they said had a restrictive view of the proposed agenda.
