Open Society applauds the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), which shields hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from the threat of deportation. The ruling rejects the Trump administration’s cruel attempts to end a policy that enjoys widespread public—and bipartisan—support.
We look forward to working with grantees, partners, and allies to roll back other harsh and damaging attacks on immigrants initiated by this administration. We and our partners will also continue to press for safe, sensible, and humane immigration policies that recognize the enormous contributions immigrants make to enriching U.S. society and honor this country’s heritage as a nation built by immigrants as a beacon of hope for people seeking to build a better life for themselves and their families.
