As the health and human rights movement continues to grow, the Open Society Institute has launched a new and improved online resource guide for practitioners and advocates at www.equalpartners.info.
The resource guide covers the basic concepts and resources in health and human rights, and provides information on international treaties and enforcement mechanisms that can be applied to health care settings.
The guide currently includes in-depth research on seven key areas:
- Human rights in patient care
- HIV/AIDS and human rights
- Harm reduction and human rights
- Palliative care and human rights
- Sexual health and human rights
- Health and human rights in minority communities
- Mental health and human rights
Ensuring and enforcing human rights in patient care are critical to the provision of quality and appropriate health care. This online guide provides essential tools for advocates to generate pragmatic, rights-based solutions to urgent health threats.
The full online guide is available in English and Russian with certain chapters additionally available in Romanian, Spanish, and Thai, with more languages to come.
