  • Date
  • January 1, 2004

In this paper, the author first provides a historical context for the phenomenon of migration of Romanian workers to Italy. Based on research carried out in Italy, she then focuses on three key components that make up the long-term commuter experience: Italian legislation regarding stay and work; the organization of work in Italy (in particular informal work networks); and the relationship with Romania, the Romanian community in Italy, and the Italian society.
