This report produced by the Azerbaijan National Committee for European Integration, an initiative of the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Azerbaijan, assesses the progress made by the government of Azerbaijan in meeting its commitments under the EU-Azerbaijan Action Plan in the following priority areas:
- contributing to a solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict;
- strengthening democracy in the country, including through fair and transparent electoral process, in line with international requirements;
- protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms and the rule of law;
- improve the business and investment climate, particularly by strengthening the fight against corruption;
- improving functioning of customs;
- supporting balanced and sustained economic development, with a particular focus on diversification of economic activities, development of rural areas;
- poverty reduction and social/territorial cohesion; promote sustainable development including the protection of the environment;
- further convergence of economic legislation and administrative practices;
- enhancing cooperation in the field of Justice, Freedom and Security, including in the field of border management;
- strengthening regional cooperation.
