Money to the People: Can Mineral Wealth End Poverty in Africa? (March 24, 2014)

At a recent event, Marcelo Giugale, author of the upcoming report Money to the People, made the case that direct dividend transfers could help African citizens benefit from their countries’ natural resource wealth. He proposes that distributing even a small fraction of Africa’s hydrocarbon and mineral wealth, or of official development assistance, directly to individuals could be enough to eradicate poverty in the region.
