Making Strides in Health Care for Trans People

Transforming Health: International Rights Based Advocacy for Trans Health (February 26, 2013)

Trans people across the world experience substantial barriers to appropriate care and services. Yet trans communities are building alliances to promote trans health, to end the violence and invisibility that erase trans lives, and to fight for policies that respect gender diversity and full human rights.

Transforming Health: International Rights-Based Advocacy for Trans Health is a report by the Open Society Foundations featuring 16 case studies from nearly a dozen countries that highlight efforts to improve the health and human rights of trans people. It aims to create dialogue about advancing a trans health and human rights agenda between governments, trans communities and allies, health professionals and professional bodies, and funders. Download the full report here.

At a recent event, a panel of experts discussed these case studies. Listen above.
