The Open Society Fellowship Program uses a range of grant-making strategies to support a more just and open society. We identify and recruit grantees, then place them in a position to make real positive change.

We run three initiatives:

  • The Open Society Fellowship provides one-to-two years of support to individuals with innovative and unconventional ideas in support of open society. Currently, fellows are working on bold proposals to reduce economic inequality.
  • The New Executives Fund has offered more than 100 grants to executive directors in their first year of organizational leadership. To date, more than $10 million has been allocated in general operating support to help new directors make their visions a reality.
  • The Open Society Internship for Rights and Governance combines a clinical human rights seminar and an eight-to-12 week internship at a host organization, offers a unique opportunity for graduate students in public policy, journalism, and law to contribute to projects at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and human rights.
