Roma Initiatives Office

The Roma Initiatives Office works with activists and communities across Europe to achieve long-term change for Roma.

The Roma Initiatives Office works to achieve equal opportunities for Roma in housing, employment, and education. We also facilitate dialogue, exchange, and collaboration across the Open Society Foundations to coordinate efforts, increase knowledge, and enhance the impact of Roma-related grant making and advocacy.

Our work builds on Open Society’s 30 years of support for Roma and pro-Roma civil society organizations focused on promoting active political participation at European, national, and local levels. We work with the thousands of Roma women and men who have taken up leadership roles in their communities. We also work, through mobilization campaigns and training, to nurture the next generation of Roma leaders.

In partnership with the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture, the Roma Education Fund, and the Roma Entrepreneurship Development Initiative, we support young Roma who want to learn about their heritage, complete their graduate studies, and create their own employment opportunities.
