Finding Oscar (95 min.) tells the story of the search for justice for the victims of the Dos Erres massacre in Guatemala in 1982. The search led to the trail of two little boys, Oscar and Ramiro, who were abducted during the slaughter and raised by some of the very soldiers who had murdered their families.
The film follows the efforts of three remarkable Guatemalan women—Aura Elena Farfan, the founder of a human rights NGO serving the families of Guatemala’s desaparecidos (disappeared), Sara Romero, a young prosecutor on the staff of Guatemala’s Ministerio Publico, and Claudia Paz y Paz, Guatemala’s heroic Attorney General—who led the efforts to find the the two kidnapped boys and bring to justice the Guatemalan soldiers responsible for the massacre, in trials in Guatemala and the United States.
