Open Society Fellow Howard French recently returned from Mozambique, Ethiopia, Liberia, and Namibia, where he conducted extensive interviews with Chinese workers and members of the communities where they have settled. Among other topics, he discusses the implications of increased Chinese migration for minority rights, economic development, and governance in Africa.

French was introduced by Tawanda Mutasah, director of programs at the Open Society Foundations.
