Join us for a discussion with journalist Sasha Abramsky, creator of the multimedia project The Voices of Poverty. The project explores who is poor in the United States, and why and how poverty manifests itself in the lives of individuals and communities. It also looks at how overlapping issues such as healthcare, wages, employment, housing, education, and location impact people’s finances, necessitating thoughtful policy responses.

Sasha Abramsky is a freelance journalist and a part-time lecturer in the University Writing Program at the University of California at Davis. His work has appeared in The Nation, the Atlantic Monthly, New York magazine, the Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Salon, the Guardian, and many other publications.
